Since 1997

Established as one of the original key brands in the Boekenhoutskloof portfolio.

Seven from South Africa and one Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand’s South Island.

No additions

Honest, natural winemaking with no acidification. True to type, true to cultivar.
Our wine

Eight wines.
One very happy fridge.

Every bottle wears a pen and ink porcupine by wildlife artist Zakkie Eloff. Pick a colour, open the tech sheet, or head straight to the shop.

Sunny and zippy

Chenin Blanc

Ripe stone fruit, a squeeze of citrus and a bright finish. The one for long lunches and braai days.

Rich and textured

Chardonnay

Fruit from deep, ancient soils and gentle winemaking with little intervention. Rich, rounded and very easy to like.

A global favourite

Sauvignon Blanc

Grapefruit, gooseberry and a cool green snap. Poured on tables all over the world for a reason.

Dry and berry-bright

Rosé

Pale, crisp and full of red berries. Made for pool days, patios and the first slice of pizza.

Plush and easy

Merlot

Soft plum, dark chocolate and a smooth, velvety middle. The weeknight red that gets opened first.

A global favourite

Syrah

Dark berries, violets and cracked pepper from sunny Swartland shale, finished in French oak. Bold, spicy and loved everywhere.

Bold and structured

Cabernet Sauvignon

Dark fruit, mocha and fine French oak, with a dash of Cabernet Franc for fragrance and a silky texture.

Marlborough, our way

South Island Sauvignon Blanc

Passionfruit, lime and cut grass from New Zealand’s South Island, bottled with the same honest Porcupine Ridge approach.

How we make it

Honest, natural winemaking.

Porcupine Ridge is benchmarked on over-delivery. It sits at an accessible price point next to the premium wines in the Boekenhoutskloof portfolio, and it is held to the same standards.

True to type, true to cultivar

A Sauvignon Blanc should taste like Sauvignon Blanc. Every wine is made to express its individual varietal character, not a house style.

No acidification, no additions

Nothing goes in that the grapes did not bring with them. The wines are made honestly and naturally, vintage after vintage.

Generous palate weight

Everyday does not mean thin. The focus is on texture, weight and a wine that feels like far more than it costs.

Made for the table

Food pairing and casual dining are at the heart of the brand, from Tuesday night pasta to the annual Pizzeria Challenge.

Named after the neighbours
The name

Shy, spiky and very much at home.

Porcupine Ridge is named after the Crested Porcupine families that live on the farm in Franschhoek. You will rarely spot them, they keep nocturnal hours, but they are the reason every label carries a porcupine drawn in pen and ink by wildlife artist Zakkie Eloff.
The brand’s identity is rooted in that natural environment and in the ongoing work to conserve the biodiversity of the property and the mountains around it.
